So i found myself watching The Parent Trap on Freeform the other night.
The Parent Trap is a classic and no blog post 18 years later will change that fact. My intentions are not to dispute that claim.
My intentions are to bring one particular question to the attention of readers...
Divorced lovers, long-lost twin sisters, husband rebounds with some spicy, young blonde. The storyline is pretty simple. However, my only question is this... Why isn't anyone questioning the integrity of Dennis Quaid's character? While we all sit back and hate on Meredith for being a snobby, stuck-up wench, we're all forgetting one major piece of information... Fun-loving, dad of the year, Nick Parker plans to marry this woman. We're not talking about some sloppy, accidental one night stand - we're talking about marriage. Either Nick Parker's judgement is so poor that he can't tell Meredith is the money-grubbing gold digger that she is, or he is so materialistic that he doesn't care. Both of these truths are equally as horrifying as the other. The antagonist here isn't Meredith Blake. The real bad-guy here is the one who Hallie and Annie put all their trust into, Dennis Quaid. And even when it's all seemed to resolve itself... just a couple of hours after he and his fiancé had broken up all he has to say about it is "Remind me to thank them one day".
